Proper foot wear

I'm down here in West Palm Beach waterhunting in the wet sand for the 2nd time in my life. I've spent 1000 hours in fresh water beaches without the wave action.
I'm using rubber sole neoprene shoes with black netting atop and the problem is they fill up with tons of sand which become uncomfortable. What do you use on the beach in the water but mostly in wet sand?
PS found 14 coins. no rings using my Surfmaster PI with 9.5 coil.

I use high top dive boots and low top gym socks to prevent rub / blisters. Without the socks, I would get blisters on the top of my toes where they rubbed the neoprene. The dive boots reduce the amount of sand, but do not eliminate it.

I go barefoot all Summer, I hunt the Great Lakes..theres nothing as efficient as bare feet in the sand and surf....and was just wondering why you guys dont? Theres plenty of busted glass up here, and zebra mussel shells which are sharp too...but so far, I have not had any problems in 4yrs of hunting barefoot, beaches or in the water...I believe in the water, a guys feet move slow enough to feel objects before a guy commits full weight...just wondering why more of you salties dont just go barefoot? I understand the fear of stepping on a bottle bottom...and figure this is why y'all recommend footwear, or is there another reason I am unfamiliar with in salt water?...I do keep a tube of superglue in the vehicle in case of a bottle cut, but now I'm considering carrying it along just in case...so a guy dont have to hop back to the car for it if needed?

I have pulled WAAAAAY too many fishhooks out of the water while detecting to ever go barefoot in the water again unless its a pool. All it takes it 1.

I also wear dive boots, and when I am in cold water I have my wetsuit over the tops so sand cant get in. In the summer, I wear sandals which self-empty.

Mud I went to one of the Resort beaches about three weeks ago. Forgot my Hard Soled Scuba boots at home. did not remember them until I was nearly at my destination. So Off I went detecting bare foot. Did not have any problems with glass etc but My feet got quite a sun burn. I hit the beaches frequently and as tan as my legs are i still sometimes get a bit of sunburn on them. It would take a lot of doing to get my feet tan enough to not burn at the beach.

Hard sole Meyers dive boots. Also, you might look at boot blosers that go around the top of the boots. Velcro stay tight and keep the sand and shells out. I think you can get them from Bass Pro.

Barefoot, flip flops mostly, dive boots with Velcro straps like what's used to bundle data and phone cables. If you can't find the blouses I have seen people
cut the tops out of the rubber gloves for washing dishes and use those as blouses.

Mud,
I've done some bare foot beach detecting, if it is too hot for the boots or waders, the waves aren't slamming the scoop into the ankles and it isn't so hot the the beach burns the bottoms of my feet. White sand on some beaches doesn't heat up, but I only see those occasionally on vacation. So most of the time I've got on footwear.
Cheers,

Had the same issue, It did help it by wearing heavy duty dive boots with neoprene sox but It ended up the best was,,

I wore boot foot (feltbottom) waders all summer long in OC MD, (300 plus hours) they are the lite weights breathable. Temps there ran in the 80s to 90's with a breeze and remember your hunting the water, you get hot you catch a wave.... Only thing is I did sweat a lot and had a hunter come up and tell me they had to smell bad..haha They did and I washed them out once a week.... I can say only twice did I feel over heated and rolled them down to my waist.

I wouldnt go bare foot where i hunt.... way to many things to step on like sting rays, fishing lures, and sharp shells when conditions are right. Ive been a runner all my life, but i still go ouchy ouchy out there when barefoot.

Hot sand and sun makes sense! We get very little of either up here! It never got up to 90 degrees at all in July...thanks for the explanation...I did not think of that at all!
