While attemping to program my EXII yesterday there was a lot of noise that I couldn't eliminate. While in the advanced learn mode, with target acceptance activated, the target crosshair would bounce all over the place. This resulted in many unwanted areas being accepted in the program model.
Using the noise reduction and changed in the sensitivity value had no effect on the instability.
The weather conditions during the programming was very high temperature and humidity (90F -75% RH).
What are the effects of high humidity and temperature on the EXII performance? What are the temperature and humidity specification limits?
Could there be other causes for the poor performance?

I had the same type of thing happen one day. I and my detector had been in an air conditioned house and went to a local park (just a few minutes away)one HOT afternoon. When I got their and attempted to use the machine it just went crazy. I was not able to determine targets at all because of all the noises and squealing. After unsuccessfully trying to get it stabilized, I went home. Now, before I go out, I let the machine warm-up in a warmer part of the house before going outside and turning it on in the heat of the outside air. I have not had this problem since changing my "getting ready" routine. Could this type problem be caused by moisture condensation somewhere in/on the machine? Any ideas?.....Thanks, Bill

Hey Bill,
Yea, I think condensation is causing problems. Yesterday, my X1 probe became unusable. I brought it out of the airconditioning into 97 degrees and 80% humidity. It got so back that if I wiggled the wire on it just a little bit the probe made terrible loud noises. I was about ready to send it back to Sunray, but I decided to test it this morning while it had sat in the airconditioned house all night. It worked perfectly.

Jim,
One thing I have learned if you want to build a pattern is to turn the sensitivity to 1 and then do a noise cancel. Then when running coins in front of the coil to make a pattern the best way is going in and out at the center of the coil and not accross the face of it as you can get a signal on the edges of the coil too which will give you a odd pattern.

If you get real unstable, make sure all you coil connections are tight.. I find that to be the biggest cause of irratic behavior.. but every once in a while something in the air seems to make the explorer go nuts...

switching from auto sensitivity manual sometimes smothes it out for me. my site had overhead high lines and undergroung streetlight wiring real close to me, manual was smooth with curser staying where it belonged, auto was erratic with curser jumping all around the screen.
