Programming the Etrac

Would it hurt anything to do my programming on the modes and patterns with the control box detached from the coil? I'm taking a 3-hour ride to a detecting site tomorrow and would like to input some different modes and patterns. Understandably, I don't want the coil active while riding in the car.

Thanks!

Phillip

That is the ONLY way to program the E-Trac in Edit mode without the coil picking up stuff and interfering...I always program with the coil detached...

HH,

I'd also prefer to just turn the volume down.
The next question is, what you can "program" that takes so long on the E-Trac?

Ok, maybe you want to design a search pattern.
You can do it on your PC, if you have the E-Trac Emulator!

Its easier using the Computer Mouse and it will not use the E-Trac.
And ... you can just put of your PC speaker so long.

And later export it via USB to the "real" E-Trac.

Actually I tried a program to do just that but couldn't figure out how to save all the settings. I spent maybe a half=hour designing all these modes and patterns and then couldn't get them to upload properly to the etrac. Maybe you're talking about a different program. Mine is called ETracMan.
