Program Question?

If I understand correctly if you make a setting adjustment in a program it is automatically saved and you need to do a program restore if you want it back to factory settings, Now what I do not understand is do you need to load that program from the library or from the six block menu under programs,I read in the manual that if there is a (+/-) beside a program in the six block menu that means there is another program with the same name in your library. So when you make setting changes does it go to the library or six block menu under programs or are the changes saved in the six block even after you turn off the V3i. or do they go back to default. I hope yens can understand what I am saying.Bit confusing to me. I am just researching the V3i right now and saving my Penny's to buy one soon, using the XLT know it well and still enjoy it also, Thanks.

my understanding is that the Library programs are there forever, they can never be changed. If you make changes to a program that is one of the factory programs and then save it, that is what you will get everytime you load that from the block menu. When you make changes to any program, lets say Coins and Jewelry and then you turn off your machine. When you turn the unit back on and pull the trigger, it will start running the last program that you were using when you turned the machine off with the changes you made. The changes you made are ONLY saved when you go to the expert menu and pick SAVE. Then when you change to another program and then later go back to the C&J, then your changes will still be there. If you make changes, turn the machine off and then turn it back on at a later time and change to a different program, like coins, then the changes on the C&J revert to the original C&J unless you made changes to it and then in the expert menu saved it.
If you want to go back to the original factory program, you go to expert menu, then programs, then load program from the library, then save it. Now when you go back to the block screen and pick programs and you pick the program you loaded from the library and saved, it will be the factory rendition of that program until you make changes to it and save it.

You can do like a master reset....contact White's about the proper procedure if you do this...and everything will return to factory settings, like when you got the machine. With the previous method described, unless I am mistaken, you have to load each program you wish to restore from the library and then save it individually. If you copy a program like I have C&J and then I have a C&J - no tones, then if you restore the C&J, it is back to factory, but the modified C&J is still there because it has a different name and that program I created is not in the White's permanent Library.

Ok so if I understand you correctly no matter what changes I make to a program and save it or just leave the changes there till the next time I use it the factory setting will allways be factory default in the library ? Am I thinking correctly or am I just over thinking it? I make a lot of setting changes just fooling around with the XLT and don't save them all the time and I am just looking to try and figure out how I get back to factory settings with the V3i when I do the same with it and don't use the save option. I understand the the V3i a good bit without having it in my hands I quess I need it in my hands to get thru the bit of the learning curve. Thank you for your reply.

Shaffer 44 you almost got it right. You said,
If you make changes, turn the machine off and then turn it back on at a later time and change to a different program, like coins, then the changes on the C&J revert to the original C&J unless you made changes to it and then in the expert menu saved it. It doesn't revert back.

OK, if you start with a stock program you can make all the changes you want and if you turn off the machine or change programs the changes will remain. Unless you use the save option after making changes hitting restore will return the program to stock.

Once the program has been saved, the restore will only restore to the last save,

Yes the +/- means there is another program in the library with the same name but it does not have the changes you made. The changes are only made to the copy of the library program you have in your program list in the 6 block menu.

Rob,
You are right again...I had a little brain failure and I don't know why, but got it mixed up with the XLT that I have. I know now from using the V3I that I start with stock and make changes on the fly and like you said WITHOUT SAVING, but just turning the machine off, the next time I go to the program it will have my changes I made before. On the XLT, as long as you did not change and on powerup you just double pulled the trigger it would remember the last program you used. It would lose the changes if you switched programs without saving.
Saving the V3i changes just makes the saved one the new "stock" or basis until you restore by loading the original from the library. When you go to programs, stock or NEW SAVED stock will have a check mark to the left of the program name. Changed stock programs will have a triangle to the left of the name and the +/- does mean that there is another "original" program with the same name in the permanent LIBRARY.
