Program for iron infested sites?

Hi all! Can you guys share with me your setup when hunting iron laden areas. I have two very good sites which I have just about cleaned out with my other detectors but know there's more there hidden by iron. Just picked up a CTX and would love to prove myself right. I'm thinking open screen, ferrous/coin, fast on, deep off, target trace on, with my coiltek 10x5 coil. What else should I use? 2tones, 50 tone co? Please help, Mike

Hi mike,
All the settings you mentioned are spot on. Either the coiltek or the stock 6".
Also use lots of patience. And slow to moderate swing speed. Don't over run the processor.

I wouldn't use 50 tone in iron, unless you want locked up after going insane. ;)
Either 4bin co, or (my personal choice) 2 tone fe.

Some guys like to change audio response from normal to long...it's a personal preference (and an acquired taste)...try it on site to see if it fits your style.
It may help you pick out good signals among the iron.

HH and good luck,
mike

Are you ONLY after and have found Coins in those sites?

If Yes, try Single Tone, Ferrous Coin, TT On and [ watch those numbers ] ...
...with the assumption that you use a smaller than the stock 11" coil...a 6" preferably...

Why Single Tone? This allows a cleaner 'hit' in the audio department which then "allows" better functioning on the Target ID's, Cursor location etc. IMHO

If you look for this sort of thing (see copyright photo) but your Cursor should be more to the RHS and your FE and CO's will also be different, e.g. FE 12 CO 42 ???

Good Hunting

Mostly colonial, reales, seated, coppers, flat buttons, bits of silver, 4 gold rings, and brass/copper relics. I will try your suggestions, thanks Mike

Thanks bud! The ctx really seems like a simple machine to use but from what I hear there's more to it then meets the eye. I will keep using it and trying different settings, as I know it will find more there.
