program adjustment

Is it necessary to adjust the coin program on the Explorer SE PRO or will it work fine for silver and old coppers?

It will find silver and old coppers no problem.... but depth and sensitivity can be improved. The basic program is a good starting place because its very stable in about any situation. Start learning the SMARTSCREEN..... next stage is tones which IS the best way to hunt with the Explorer. Find someone with EXPERIENCE in your area if possible to help you with your settings and locating deep signals. It will speed up the learning process.

I'm alone as far as finding someone to help.

i also hunt alone and had to learn my se pro alone except for the great help from this forum and the people on it lots of helpful post are made here andy sabichs book also was a real eye opener combined with in field experience it all comes together presets great place to start but i found the se was not that hard to learn ive moved quite aways away from the presets now due to conditions in my area and the places [old colnial sites] i hunt in the woods i like all metal ferrous sound settings and sens as high as i can run stable varies site to site day to day wet dry conditions but thats what the explorers due best adjust to varieing conditions lots of ways they can be set and used mostly learn to hunt slow the explorers kind of make you a big game hunter you go slow and sneak up on the rare old coin or relic you are looking for you are not looking for lots of stuff only the best stuff and with the explorers you will find it good hunting to you

[size=large]if you'd like company then it's best to start with a location on your signature. it gives others in your locality a starting point and they can p.m. you for details. i've been contacted by three members in my local area this way. one problem i ran into was none of them run a minelab. each has a machine from three other makers. it's a start though.

hey markg, like widebody alludes to, where are you? If you are near me, you are welcome to join me. I'm an Explorer newb myself, but have some experience with other machines, and I have 3 guys I hunt with that run Minelabs, one SE Pro, and two Etracs. They are all good, and will help out, if you live, or at some point find yourself traveling anywhere near central Oklahoma.

hey teleman, I LOVE your analogy of "big game hunter sneaking up on the rare old coin." I AM a big-game hunter, and I'm also a user of other, much faster detectors. So, in trying to learn to "hunt slow" with the Explorer, your analogy of "sneaking up on" the goodies will be a GREAT picture for me to keep in my mind when hunting with the SE. GREAT word picture! Thanks!
