Problematic pinpointer solution ?

I'm on my second Garrett Pro Pointer . Just like my first one this one is acting up and chirping constantly. Any solutions ? I tried laying it on the ground when turning it on and that helps just a little .

i have 4 pps im nursing along with that contact cleaner spray. Dont know if its the same problem but one i have turns on ok and then starts to pinpoint in the cut, but then it will all in about 2 secs start to chirp more and more and then constantly so that i cant tell what its pinpointing to. This happens with small targets as well as large, so its not just a large target in there. I then have to shut if off then and turn it back on. Dont know if this is related to the switch or not.CO

Both of mine behaved exactly like that .

My old Garrett PPer started doing the same thing then at some point it evolved into just turning it on in any position it falses continuously. Totally unuseable.
Its called planned obsolescence?
The good news, Garrett has excellent customer service and will repair/replace it if its still in warranty and maybe even out of warranty. Worth a try.

Try putting a small piece of foam rubber or a couple of those felt cabinet door bumpers between the cap and the end of the battery to increase the pressure on the contacts.
They have a 2 year warranty and you'll get a new one back if it's still in effect--I think Garrett will do a complete rebuild for about 40 bucks

For got to add, someone i think it was here posted that moisture might be seeping into these things causing the falses and claimed drying it out fixed it.
Can't remember how it was dried out though. Maybe popping the lid off then use a hair dryer?
Might even try that with my moth balled Garrett PPer.

yes I have two gpp. have had them both repaired during warranty. they lasted until warranty ended. now they want me to ship them back again plus if I got this right they want $21.00 each. to look at them plus parts. don't think so. .now I'm trying out a makro so far I really like it . if it makes it 8 months it will beat the other two.so I have my fingers crossed .

Put it a bag of dry rice after removing the on/off rubber and the battery cap. I wouldn't blast it with heat. Let it sit in the dry rice for a couple weeks.

Saw videos pointing out that there are 3 wires that have become exposed moving around at the tip, wonder if that problem has been addressed if that in fact is/was the problem
