Problem with X-Terra 70

Billsie

New member
Have any of you ever experienced this problem with your detector? Several times my X-T 70 has suddenly started making a loud, steady beep, with the ID meter fluctuating between high numbers (38 to 42). Nothing I do will stop it; if I turn the machine off, then back on, the beeping continues as before. Finally, after several minutes, it simply goes into normal operating behavior, and behaves perfectly until the next time it happens. Over the last 2 months, this has occurred 3 times when I first turned on the machine, and once while hunting. As I said, it eventually starts acting normally again, but not because of anything I have done to correct it. Very frustrating.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi Billsie,
I have had the same thing happen 4 or 5 times in the last month. When i first turn it on beeps as each number comes up and just keeps going. I have tried going into the factory preset but that does nothing to get rid of it. I have changed the coil with my mates thinking it could be the coil no difference also making sure the coil is screwed up tight to the box but all of a sudden it will right it self and no problems till the next time. I have been in touch with Kevin in service department at minelab here in Australia and he said that is a new one as he had not had that problem before. As it is intermitten i will still use it for a bit longer just to see if it happens again. I just hate sending it back but if it has to be i will.

Billsie,

I've got a lot of hours on the 70 and have never run into that problem. Ditto for my other field tester colleagues as far as I know. I probably would just send it in for service. Minelab's service is terrific & I'm sure they will fix it right up & have it back to you quickly.

Keep us posted.

Bill (S. CA)

I would send it in and let Minelab repair/replace it. HH Randy

Sounds real weird but since it is not only one machine its gotta be something.

Hmmmmm, it could not be the cheap batteries again. There is a huge difference on batteries and their amount of pouring amps. I dont know everything about batteries but just mentioning it until they both say the problem is there with energizers, varta or duracell too.
