problem with the pinpoint on my cz20

Greetings - I have a CZ20 which I've been playing around with since spring. I purchased it used from a friend who just never had a chance to use it much and it was just sitting around.

My question/problem is that just recently I've noticed that my pinpoint button is not consistently working. Often pressing it just gives a loud signal or sometimes broken chatter. It had worked very well up until a couple weeks ago but I fear something may be wrong with it.

I plan to contact Fisher once the "season" is over and see what it would take to get it fixed (of course I'm worried now from reading some of the high $$ cost posts here recently), but I'm wondering if any other CZ20 users have had this problem? It almost sounds like a loose connection - is this possibly something I could identify and/or fix myself or will I just make things worse?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

happy hunting

cubfan, the pinpoint button on the cz20 is a problem, and when it goes bad is very expensive to repair. i hunt with a group of a dozen or so waterhunters and we dont use the button, i just turn the knob back to all metal, if neccessary to pinpoint, and really rarely do that. you can get used to pinpointing in disc. and it works well. the button is one of the weakpoints of the cz20. this problem is well known to cz20 users. hope this helps you out. hh bob n.

Bob - absolutely helps me out very much and thank you for a quick response. I have no intention of spending alot of money to fix that button if it's a known issue and something that is expensive to get done.

I always looked at the pinpoint button as sort of a "lazy mans" way of pinpointing the target - it was certainly nice to have when it worked, but not worth the trouble if it isn't a cheap fix.

I'll just have to start practicing pinpointing targets the way you described - nothing wrong with that.

Thanks again for the information!!

Thanks very much for the information - no way I'm going to invest $300 just for a new pinpoint button. That's pretty ridiculous that it costs that much! I'll use the old fashioned ways to pinpoint!

Thanks again

i bought a used cz-20 had if for about 3 weeks and pinpoint button stuck, she was done dancing. took it back to dealer and traded for brand new cz-20 now exactly 1 year later button is sticking. the local dealer replaced the button in the used one and it cost him $128.00 just for the button. i'm sending mine back at end of season for replacement, under warranty. love the machine but am certainly gun shy of the pinpoint button!!!!!!!!!!

if you were using the pinpoint button to ground balance you can avoid the pinpoint button by placing machine in auto tune and bobbing and adjusting as needed.
