Problem with playground detecting

Hello, I am new to detecting I just got my Bounty Hunter Quickdraw 2 for Christmas. I have used it a few times and I am having some problems. At parks around benches and playground equipment (from what experienced detectorists say the best places to look at parks) I get lots of false reads. I have turned the discrimination very high while turning the sensitivity low to cut out this chatter. It seems to be due to the concrete or possibly the steel.? This also happens around sidewalks and gravel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Near steel reinforced concrete as well as metal playground equipment, the coils of metal detectors must be kept far enough away to avoid the detectors detecting the metal in those structures. A smaller coil will allow you to get closer without detecting the structures.

Like Mark said, a smaller coil will help. A smaller coil will also help in heavy trashed out areas. Bounty Hunter makes a 4 inch coil. But don't focus too much on those items. They are good places to look, but you want to look at the area and visually where the most activity is at. Does the park hold festivals during the summer months? Are there any large trees that people would seek for shade? How old is the park? If it is an older park the landscape may have changed. Do some research and see if you can find any old pictures. You will be amazed how much you can learn in just 20 minutes researching an area.

without getting a 4" coil; the other thing you can do to get as close as possible to the metal structure, is to sweep at a VERY slow speed parallel to the post or structure. But the best is to get the 4" coil.

Thanks for all of the help. What about seemingly mystery our false reads around gravel or singal beeps that you are not able to get a repeat?
