Problem with new Sea Hunter?

John(Tx)

New member
Got my new sea hunter yesterday and assembled it later in the afternoon. This is my first time with a PI so don't know if I'm doing something wrong. I turned on machine and got the 4 beeps, then I increased the threshold to a 2 which was just audible. Elimination was at 0. When I pass a coin or ring, it will not sound off until it clears the coil, go back the other way and it does the same thing. At first I thought it was sounding off when it approached the coil but it is not. This is in the standard mode. When I switch to discreet mode it works like my excal, it gives a tone as the coin or ring passes the coil. Also, in standard mode, once it gives me a tone when the coin or ring passes the coil, the sound will increase and stay for about 3 seconds then goes back to a low threshold. Is this normal? I will call the factory today. Thanks, John

Air tests don't really work well with a PI.
PI machines don't like to have much air between the target and coil. Take it out for a real world hunt and see how she does.
It's not a bad idea to call Garrett's, though, if you have any questions. They are very helpful.
Best of luck to ya!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Now I know there is something wrong with my sea hunter. I watched the instructional video again and in the video the standard mode is not a motion mode, mine goes null when the target is under the coil, something definately wrong, it's going back to Garrett. Thanks for the help. John
