Problem with GTAx 550

I have a problem with my GTAx 550 and i don't know whats wrong with it. I

Have you rebooted it? Press and hold the power button until it beeps ( about ten seconds ).

try another coil, if the problem is still there call Garrett. Sounds like a factory repair

I sold a GTI 2500 new to my mail carrier and it did the same thing right out of the box, had to send it back.

i have a gta1000 and it was doing it also. i opened up the circuit boards and found that they came loose. pushed them back and fixed the problem. havent had the problem since.

Did you check the coil for tiny cracks or nicks?

Outside the coil looks like a new, i don't see any damage to it

I tried the 4,5" coil today, it worked fine, so it is probable the coil.

Yeah if another coil works okay then the problem coil is tits up. Send it in and Garrett will replace it for free.

my 25 year old ADS7 has been a total pleasure to use all these years. about 6 years ago i sent it in and asked them to "check it out" . they found a capacitor that needed replaced and did so free of charge. to this day, it blows the "bells and wistles" modern detectors away. i have used fisher,whites ,.. my ads7 gives better depth. i think the analog controls give better controls over conditions. we also have a gtax 550... a great coin shooter. IS IT TRUE THAT THE CROSSFIRE COILS WILL WORK WITH THE ADS7 ? ? do your research ... irecentlty found a book that shows shows 146 schools from 1704 thru 1958...just in the county i live in OHIO. needless to say ill be busy foa a while.
