Problem with Classic SL ID trigger

Hey folks. I picked up a Classic ID today off Craigs List. Works well with one exception: the trigger/toggle doesn't work. It basically just moves without any resistance or effect. No spring action, no resistance in any direction. About 1/10 tries it goes into All Metal mode, but it doesn't stay there.
I found the replacement on Whites website. So I'm wondering how difficult it is to replace. I can do some basic soldering. Can I handle the swap-out?

Thanks again.

Very easy to change out. Slide the rubber cover off, then pull the switch out. The switch is mounted to a piece of stainless steel that us bent in a U shape so it stays in the tube with a little spring pressure. It just pulls out. Unscrew the the nut from the switch. Solder wires to new switch, Reinstall switch onto the stainless spring piece and push it back into the tube and reinstall the rubber cover. Very easy fix.

Thanks Tom. I appreciate it.

Do you think there are any compatible switches, such as from Radio Shack that would work? Would rather just swing by and pick something up and not have to order one.

Thanks again.

Wayne, This sounds like the one i got from ebay, and sent it back. I told the guy that it needed to be sent to Whites for repair. He gave me back my money, but i had to pay shipping back. He needs to stop selling junk. I told him that i would not give him bad revue but to know it is broken and keep selling it is not right. Did he tell you that it was bad? If so then that is ok. Good luck with it. Flintstone

I doubt that radio shack will have the correct switch as it needs to spring back to the center position when it's released. I think the switch is about $4.00. Last time I ordered two so I'd have a spare and they ship two for the same price as shipping one.

I picked up and installed Radio Shack item 275-0325 Center-Off Toggle Switch and it seems to work fine. Doesn't have spring return to center but that seems to be ok.

All is working well.

Thanks for all the responses.
