Problem with all metal/pinpointing mode on my XLT

The last 2 times out my XLT would work fine for 1/2 hour to an hour then the pinpointing/all metal mode (single tone pinpoint) would quit working. I would pull the trigger and nothing would happen. After that, the mode would sound only occasionally after several tries. I know there was a target because I would end up digging it without pinpointing.
This happen to anyone else?
 
I had the single tone pinpointing on. I will check DC and Sat when I get home but I didn't change anything. It worked fine and then it just quit. Then every once in several tries, it would work one time and then quit again.
