Problem with a brand new Garrett Pro Pinpointer

I just purchased a Pro Pinpointer from a dealer near me on Saturday. I took it out for a test on Sunday and I noticed that the power kept going off and refused to turn back on, I would have to tap it or shake it to get it to work again.
I had to wedge a piece of cardboard between the battery and the battery cover to fix the problem. As much as these cost, I am very surprised that this is happening.
I emailed Garrett and asked them to send me a new adhesive pad for he inside of the battery cover. I am hoping that they will do that for me.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I've had one for a year and a half and have not had that issue. Mine did get erratic last year and I sent it in over the winter and recieved a new one. I'm sure they will replace it rather than just give you a new pad. I love mine and wouldn't want to go detecting without it.

I had this happen after about 4 years of owning mine. I used a $1 store furniture foot pad to fix it. HH

I've never had any trouble with mine and it sure speeds my recoveries up. Hope you get it working right or replaced.

My Garrett Pin pointer has been through many battles, the tip is completely worn out, and still performing like a champs. (Besides using a piece of paper to push the battery to make contact)

Not all 9 volt batteries are the same length. I too have added a small folded piece of paper at times to help the points make better contacts.
