Problem with 5x8????

I've recently discovered my 5x8 is sounding off center. I usually pinpoint by sound, crisscrossing my targets. My coil is sounding in the center but when I cut my plug I'm finding my targets in the lower left quadrant of my coil. I was on a hunt with my partner the other day when it become most apparent. He reswept two of my plugs with his ETRAC to check his larger coil and hit targets on both. The first he dug was a wheat penny about 2-3",the second one I dug was two wheat pennies stuck together in the left bottom of my plug at about the same depth. He cuts a U plug and I cut a square plug. Anyway any ideas as to what might be the problem and is there a way to get the coil re-tuned to center? If not I quess I'll have to cut a bigger plug starting an inch or two back and to the left of the rear of my coil.

I always pinpoint off the front tip of my 5x8 and it works great I seldom use the pinpoint button. The problem your experiencing may be due to more than one target in the area your pinpointing in but that's just a guess.

I agree with 88junior. Have you tried laying a coin on the ground to see what's going on? Just a thought. Mine PPs dead center. Joe.

Thanks fellas, I think you maybe right about the mutiple targets. I think I may have been concentrating my efforts on the center of my plug although I routinely roll my Pro-pointer around the plug and the hole. I managed to find 2 buffalos, one with a readable date 1926,2 Jeffersons from early fifties,10 wheaties from 1916 thru the 30's,a Mercury 1943 and a Rosie 1950 and after cleaning my finds a 1906 IH that I thought was a wheatie when pulled. I'm going to airtest tomorrow just to double check my coil.
