Problem Viewing Readings on CTX Screen

]Ever since I started using the CTX, I have had a problem seeing the readings on my screen in bright daylight, and I have just learned to put up with it until today. I was on the beach in bright daylight and with some sun and no matter how I turned or tried to shade the screen, I was unable to read the TID and depth readings on the screen, let alone the time or sensitivity readings. It caused me to do allot of blind digging. I know that my eyes are not the best, but I was wearing my glasses and it doesn't help. As far as I know my back light is always on and I don't know if there is a setting that can fix my problem or does everyone have the same problem as me? If there is anything that I can do to improve the clarity of my screen readings, I would love to know it. Any help in this matter, will be much appreciated,

Turn backlight up to 10. You can also use sunglasses as long as they are not polorized.

Vanbibr, thanks for the tips. Since I do have the back light turned up to 10 already, I guess that I need to try sunglasses and see if that helps. Thanks again for the advise.

Did you try the backlight about midway. I have mine set on 4 and have no problems in full sun, even on a beach.

Thanks Larry, I will give that a try and see if it helps and if not I guess I need to get a pair of sunglasses just like the ones on your dog and see if that helps. I can't believe that I am the only one having this problem, but maybe its just my eyes, they are getting sort of old and tired.

I found that on the explorer the screen would black out i I was wearing polarizing sunglasses

Andrew, No I have not removed that protective clear cover from the screen, thinking that it was put on there to protect the screen from scratches and etc. Am I wrong. I also thought that it I removed it, that I would have to try and find some other screen protector to replace it with, so I never removed it. Do you think that it will make a big difference to remove it?

That was put on there to protect the screen in shipping and should be removed. You will see a world of a difference when removed.

Huge difference, once removed. To protect the screen and to cut down on the glare, I bought a screen protector for an iPad and cut a protector out of it and still have plenty left for other screens.

Thanks Guys for the tip. I will remove the screen protector and see how it does in the bright sunlight with it. I may also try the I-Pad screen protector, just for safety.

Hi All

I take it from the posts that the ipad covers are significantly clearer than the shipping cover? So far I have been running mine with the shipping cover and also have a second cover (that slips over the whole meter) that I got on line that's nice. Between that and my shades I have a hard time with the screen. I have bad eyes and have to wear shades (polarized) outside. I've learned to deal with that. I always run the back light at 10.

If the i-pad cover is significantly clearer I guess I should get one.

Polarized sunglasses wont work. The CTX 3030 has vertical lines built into the screen for the water, while polarized sunglasses
has hoizontal lines in them and will interfear with the CTX 3030 screen.

Jason, the dayvue screen protector sounds like a good idea. Where do you get it and how much did it cost. If it is reasonable enough, I might ever get some for my laptop also.

Jason, have you installed a dayvue screen protector on your CTX? And if you have, does it cover the entire screen including the push buttons?

Do a search for this dayvue screen protector all you troubles will be over. Even works with polarized glasses on.

Jason

Just ordered a set ($18.00 shipped). 2 to a box. You need to cut to fit. They guarantee that you will be able to use in direct
sunlight with polarized sunglasses. Thanks Jason
