Problem or normal.....

I notice that at the hartford hunt I set my explorer the same as another hunter. We did some comparing of targets and I could not pick them up.Even this hunter tried with my explorer with no luck.
Now does that simply mean his explorer is a little hotter, or is there a possible problem with electronic.
I have had it in for an electronic problem in the past, could this be a continuation of a problem.
It will be going in for a cracked clasp, should I push for new electronics to be put in.
Thanks in advance for advice

Well I certainly would mention it.. ar you positive all the settings were the same?... you shouldve tried swapping coils as well to narrow it down.. if one machine sees it yours should as well.. were both set to the same channel and did one of you do a noise cancel when near each other? if not his may have been interfering with yours and yours possibly not hurting his? that dont seem like it should happen but I have noticed that one channel setting at a particular site might not get as deep as another even if your not noticing interference.. thats why I do a noise cancel at every site before starting...

Same channel, same settings, all the same. Sorry, Just wanted to stress everything is the same.
Think I will mark my boards, and push for new ones to be put in. There has to be a problem somewhere Myself or machine. since someone else useing the machine saw the same problem I don't think it could be me.
Thanks for replies

Dont forget a coil problem possibility... try swapping with someone if you can before sending it in

That's interesting to me because I suspect the electronics in my explorer aren't operating exactly the same as others. I've tried many suggestions by experienced Explorer users and often get opposite results. For example the sounds are very warbly on mine no matter what I do. When I switch to audio 2 or 3 that some say will smooth it out it gets much much worse. I've been told to move the coil slowly by almost everyone but I get 100 percent better results in sound and detection depth with relatively fast sweep (whether or not fast or deep is selected). I just wonder if I also should send mine in for a checkup. -Dave

I don't know if this will help anyone but take masking tape on a kitchen floor put one piece on the floor then measure three feet from it and put a second piece down.Take your detector, with the power off, start from one side, start with the center of the coil on the tape, sweep and count 1 2 3 I try to keep my speed at 1 foot per second.Do you swing this slow?I am far from a pro but that speed seems to work for me.

I have to remind my self in the field to slow down all of the time.but when I keep it slow my signals seem to be more solid and it gives the detectors cicuits time to catch up.

Made the call to the repair center. This is not normal...With all setting the same the machines should have been able to pick up targets eqaully.
It could have been an electronic problem that I had back in July(Lost half the screen and no back lit)that added to the problem or is the cause of the problem that I'm now having. It could have damaged a chip or weakened the electronics.
So off it will go, Hope they can get it in tip top shape before the winds start to blow.
Thanks for all your help,

Large cent at 14". My pal with Explorer got loud and clear signal, I couldn't even get a whisper. Very Strange. Kinda puts a damper on the stories you read here.
