The plastic part on the lower shaft of my SovGT came loose from the metal shaft and now the coil wont stay in place. How can I fix it? The plastic part that you bolt the coil to now turn's inside the lower shaft.

Thanks

Julien

hey Julian... sorry to hear about your problem, but if you don't want to send the shaft in for repair or replacement, then you have to either drill a "small" hole through both the shaft and the insert-end while it's in the shaft then run a small bolt through them and secure with a nut. OR you can buy an extra shaft from your local dealer and send the broken one in for repair (if it's still under warranty.
You can also fill the bottom end of the shaft with 2 part epoxy (that you can get at any hardware store) and dab som on the plastic insert as well and stick it in the shaft and let it set for the suggested curing time.
Hope this help's...

I believe there is 2 little pins that hold the plastic piece in the shaft if it is the stock lower rod for the GT as I don't have my GT right here to look at, the older ones for the XS didn't have this. Either way if it has the pins then they will have to be pulled out, if not this small plastic shaft should pull out. I just mix up some of that 2 part 5 minute epoxy that come in those syringes and apply it to the part where the coil connects and slide it back in making sure the coil is straight before the epoxy hardens and it will stay in place forever. I have done this to many Sovereign shafts and even my Explorer XS shaft to keep them from twisting.

Heck, I just doused it with crazy glue and it's held for 3 yrs now
Just make real sure it's straight, that stuff dries fast
