Probe Pros/Cons

With the X1 it is a disc probe that works great and I feel once you used one you will like it. The depth is much more than a inch, but not as deep as the Uniprobe will go, but with the uniprobe it will see any and all metal as it will not disc like the X1 will. I would say if you have everything set right on the Quattro you will get 3 or more inches out of the X1. Adding the X1 is only on the upper shaft, so it has no effect on the Quattro or the warranty of it.

I see what you are saying about the advantages of having the X-1 reading the same as the detector. Since the X-1 does read thru the detector doesn't that mean that in some way it has to go thru the circuitry of the detector? Again I have never heard of a problem but I wonder how Minelab would react if an issue came up with a detector under warranty having an X-1 attached? Sorry about the mis-quote on the depth,3in or so not 1.Having thought about this all night and reading your post I must say that the advantages of the X-1 does tip the scale towards the X-1. I have heard nothing but good about the X-1 from it users and that says a lot.
How quick is the change over from one coil to another with the X-1 attached? How easy is it to attach the unit mounted to the shaft to another shaft or can you just change the coil and attach the X-1 lead and move on?

X1 probe

There are a couple of other points that were missed. Never leave home with out the probe, cannot loss it in the field while detecting, no battery power(as long as detector has power), and quick change of coils.
If you are like me you have several coils. I put each on its own lower shaft. All you have to do is unplug cable, Flip the lock and coil is ready to remove(2 to 3 minute change).

Thanks for the help guys!
I took the plunge yesterday and ordered the X-1 for my Quattro.I think the clincher was being able to have the same responce from the probe as the detector!I'm trying to get familiar with the Quattro and as I do the X-1 will follow in step.I will keep my old hand held for back-up if ever needed.
Good point about putting other coils on lower shafts for quick change outs.
Looking forward to getting my hands on the X-1 and spending some more time with the Quattro.
I planted my garden yesterday(weird for me to say as a landscaper)with 16 objects and did some test runs.
Andy's book has been a great plus for me to shorten the learning curve on the Quattro.
Just wanted to say thanks,I'm heading out the door now with the Quattro to see what I can find!
