Probably my last hunt for the year ...

Snow in Iowa coming ... Got out Friday, first to a private yard. I would guess the house was built around the 20's (actually almost directly across the street from historic Grant Wood's home). Small yard, with alot of flower beds and etc. Only took only 1 hour to cover the grass areas. Got 6 cents total - 4 Lincoln's and two Wheats - 1920 and 1941. Both of the Wheats were less then 2 inches deep, 3 of the Lincoln's were about the same, and one Lincoln about 7 inches - that one I'm guessing overfill next to the flower bed. Kinda of goes with the deep issue thread ... the wheats were in the back yard, were the grass barely grows at all because of shade. Front yard was tiny, and the EXII went nuts - it was squawking like it lost it's mind. Probably need a smaller coil for better separation. Then I hit the city park for an hour, just to stay at it ... lots of shallow clad that amounted to about a buck 50. Got a great hit that sounded a bit like deep silver, with no junk around it at all. Dug down about 6 inches, and still didn't get it. the sound now started to be iffy ... kept digging, and now no sound at all ... thought the original sound was to good so I kept digging - at about 8 - 9 inches I see a coin. 1919 Wheat. No one must have had a coil (well at least a minelab) over this spot in the park before to let it lay there ... but I think I need a SunRay probe ... maybe next year ...

You know it's funny, I don't know how I could ever get along without my sunray x-1 probe. I find myself pinpointing the target, cutting and rolling the plug, then reaching for the sunray. The only way I DON'T use the sunray is if the coin or target is visable upon the roll of the plug. Maybe I suck at pinpointing, I don't know, but I DO know that things can get awful "blurry" down in the hole and I rely way too much on that probe to guide me to my loot.
