Has any one used the Minelab Pro Swing 45 with the Excalibur mounted on its shaft . If so could it be then be used as a land machine . I am frugal .
Thanks for any . Greg

If you are using the shaft that Minelab supplied with the detector you would be greatly surprised what a difference a straight shaft makes. I spent six hours on the beach today swinging the Excal on a straight shaft and at my age that is kinda remarkable considering the weight of the machine. I was in the water and on the sand. The straight shaft balances the machine beautifully so that it does not feel like it is nearly as heavy as what it weighs.

Hello docaudio

I am using the Pro Swing 45 with my White's XLT and absolutely love all the weight that is taken off my back and other injured areas.
Tomorrow morning with only be the 3rd or 4th time out with the harness --- it rocks in my humble opinion.

The part of the harness that attaches to the detector shaft is a heavy duty velcro strap that you can place where you think it works best.
The bungy cord is easily adjustable on-the-fly; then you just pull it through a narrow slot on the cord slider to lock it in place.
There is a complete description and instructions downloadable at the Minelab site and many of the Minelab retailer sites as well.
Of course, I am still getting the hang and still working out how to get all the adjustments the way I want.
All things considered, I really like the Pro Swing 45.

Back when I had a real life and an Excalibur, I used nylon weave military belt strapped around my neck/shoulder (kinda like the bandidos of olde).
The main control housing then was bolted through to the strap.
I have seen this arrangement on the back before on metal detecting forums/I chose to put things in the front because easier access to controls & and less stress on connectors and cabling.
