Thanks John------The three sensitivity settings suggests it may be "hotter" than the original---the fast retune sounds nice also.

Those are some really great improvements. What can you say about suggested retail? Thanks

It does sound logical about the settings and hotter but the X-Pointer has settings also and only hits 2 inches. Then figure-in that the new Garretts is being offered in pre order for $127 already so I sorta doubt that it does get any better distance than 2 inches. I hope that it does. Garretts has been good to me for 4 years. It will be a hit with me if it gets 3 inches.

You should be able to easily pinpoint a coin sized object to about an inch using any coil. Then slowly dig down at intervals using the pinpointer to retrieve your target without scratching it. The problem with excessively designed deep pinpointers is that they create problems when trying to locate targets near play equipment, multiple targets, rebar or along fences. It is beyond me why so many people get so fixated on depth, especially when it comes to pinpointers. If you want depth using a pinpointer, tag along a spare metal detector with a 4" coil on it.

I get fairly good depth with my current pro pointer and just retune if I start picking up playground equipment or a chain link fence. I just don't get to use it very often. It's a lifesaver for speeding up my recoveries and I wouldn't want to go back to detecting without it. I would like a new propointer for places in the water where I can't hunt in rocks and dock pilings, but even at the preorder price, I just couldn't justify it. Want it, oh yeah, but just can't talk myself into buying it right now. One place at the river they built a sea wall after the 500 year flood in 1994 and the 100 year flood in 1998 and large rocks are pushed up against the sea wall and I can't budge them even if I didn't have back trouble. I wouldn't mind using it in this location when it's cold so I won't grab onto a snake hiding behind the rocks.
Just slide it around under and around the back edges of the rocks and see what pops up.
