pro pointer question & metal detecting Holland

I watched a video at the library today about detuning the propointer and another one about using a coin to extend the depth or sensitivity of the propointer. I think I understand the part about detuning the propointer. 1st question:Do you have to detune it just once or every time you go into a new hole due to different metals, rings or coins? In the second video, the person used a nickel and slid it down until the unit started beeping. This extended the depth the unit would work by about 2 inches. My 2nd question is: Do you tape the coin to the propointer?

I am going to Amsterdam in November and would like to take my metal detector with me and do some detecting. Anybody on this forum from over there or have some contacts I could talk to about metal detecting and the laws in Holland? The lady at Garrett sent me an email address for someone over there and I emailed them twice, but never got an answer.

Once you detune the probe it will be detuned until you turn it off. Then it would have to be done again when you turn it back on. If you tape a coin to the probe it will detune the coin every time you turn it on reducing the depth. Try taping a piece of aluminum foil to your thumb nail. Then slide your thumb down. I find I like using the probe just as it is. Good hunting.
