Pro Pointer Problem

Lenmcgold

New member
Yeah, my fault. I went too deep in creek and drowned it through the speaker holes. Still works but erratic. Any ideas?
Thanks, Len Mc

Maybe if you take the battery out and let it dry for a day or so. Good Luck with it, hope this will help it. Flintstone

Yes, by all means remove the battery. Then put it in a zip lock bag with a few of those little dessicant pack that come with vitamins, and leave it alone for a couple of days. I once revived a cell phone that had fallen off the couch into a full cup of coffee! :bouncy:

If you pop out the rubber cover on the on/off switch and remove the one screw down underneath the battery cover before putting it into a dry-out process, it will breath better. Do NOT attempt to yank out the guts. Don't ask me how I know. Putting it in a bag of rice also works. I believe I read that putting the PP in a frost free freezer also fixes the moisture issue. Garretts will repair it for next to nothing though. martin

I've had success reviving batteries in cell phones and cameras by putting everything in a zip lock bag full of rice. I would suggest you also put the pin pointer in the bag also, no doubt the inside of that got wet also

White rice is also a great moisture absorber. Used it on a camera and cell phone. Fill up a baggy.

That sux! Sorry to see that your Propointer drowned. I hope you get it working soon. When I metal detect in the water,I always keep my Propointer in one o'those plastic bags that are made for using a camera underwater. Keeps it dry as a bone.
That or I use my old Vibraprobe. :wiggle:
Hope ya get back to huntin' soon with your Propointer.
Best of luck to ya!:)

Yep, had a similar problem with my pointer from GarrettPointer.com a while back. I filled up a freezer back with some rice (as a desicant) and put the pointer in it for about 3 days and walla, no more problems!
