Pro Pointer Causes Interference!!

New member
I recently purchases an At Pro. So far I like it with the exception on the ridicules Balance or should i say NON balance of the machine. Did anyone at Garret actually pick this machine up? I am comparing it to my Whites MXT now. My daughter and I had both machine out yesterday for the first time. When the Pro and Mxt are within 10 feet the MXT goes nuts. Also I purchases a pro pointer to use all the time, much better than my whites pointer. Problem is, when i turn it on while swinging my MXT, the MXT goes nuts, crackling and every other noise possible. No amount of tuning fixes it, I have no choice but to use the bullseye pointer with my MXT. I will post some differences in the two maxhines later after i use the pro more. For now, the pro is winning. I have to be carefull saying anything. Previously i posted asking for any hands on difference between the two and had my post removed. I'll try to be politically correct in the future so as not to hurt any little feelings out there.

Yes. the PRO and the pointer will drive the MXT nuts. I have both myself and when I get near anyoe with my MXT it does go crazy. The AT PRO is much better near other machines. I don't have a problem listening to a little crazyness when using the pointer though for a few seconds.

Your post was deleted because multi brand comparisons on brand specific forums are not allowed. You are welcome to ask for comparisons on the Metal detecting, Views or Feedback forums though.

I also keep it off when not used but turning it on to search causes the mxt to freak out. With my headphones on it makes me crazy. I'll only use the bullseye pointer with the mxt.

The Propointer whips up on those 14.7 kHz Whites. There are a lot of users that would love to use the Propointer but can't.

A ace 250 can't get within 20' feet of my dxt so as soon I can I am getting a AT PRO. Bull's eye 2 messed with a v 3 but came with my dxt. I have Garrett Probe since it came out. Just one more thing I have buy.

One thing about them very detector I used paid for it self many time over. Some faster then others.

P.s. Some one needs to came up with a Spell check for some of us that spend to much time in the sun chasing a plate on a stick. words ACE 2 AT PRO dxt v3 mxt and others.

I too find interference or static on my AT Pro when I turn on my Garrett Pro Pointer.

The Simple solution that I use takes only a fraction of a second and the press of a button. I turn off the AT Pro. It remembers where it is setup when it is turned back on then off I go to find my next treasure.

Also, If you use earphones you can just take them off when you use the Pro Pointer.

Happy Hunting!

My AT PRO works fine, it's the Whites MXT that goes berserk.

Sorry, I did not understand correctly. My AT Pro chatters a lot laying on the ground and I thought that was your problem also.

My misunderstanding again. My wife says I do not listen fully Greg. Happy Hunting!

I do that alot myself. I am sending my PRO back to Garret today. Pinpoint and screen issues. It may be a loose nut behind the screen but i doubt it. lol

Same thing happens when Charles Garrett and Ken White share a meal. Lots of interference and chatter.

I've had no prob with the Pro pointer and my AT Pro or either of my MLs. I only ran the Troy X5 a couple of times but I sow no problem with it either.

Absolutly no issues here with the pro-pointer or my AT-PRO working together  and if i do its all my fault by putting them too close together lol
