Pro Pointer Battery Efficiency?

OK I know that this pin pointer has a low battery warning. My question is whether the performance is improved if you chose to put in a fresh, hot battery instead of keeping one which reads in the mid 8V levels? Might be my imagination but it seems to "chirp" sharper with a fresh battery. Is the depth slightly less with a 8.5v battery compared to a 9.5v? martin
 
I dunno- I just put a fresh battery in bout ever 6 months or so, allus seems to be beepin bout the same to me:garrett:
 
I might be imagining it, but mine seems to work better with fresh batteries. I always run them out, though.

Mine seems to run fine all
the way to the end of the batteries life
When i hear the siren sound its time to cahnge
