Pro Mode Zero question

I read in another forum someone uses his ATP in pro zero mode 00 disc. sensitivity 7-8 Iron Audio ON......Anyone ever try this and if so does it work??? I can't try it out right now because 10 degrees out and wind blowing.....lol.....thanks

This is kinda how I used to do it and I could never understand the advantage of the iron audio. It seemed to blend with the mid tones. If you go to custom and set a disc then turn on iron audio you'll get a earful. I know most of y'all know this already.

It works.....it allows you yo hear the lowest iron (low conductors) with that iron grunt. It's a good setup for hunting for relics and or areas loaded with iron junk.

Whenever I'm using pro zero with iron audio off I get the grunt. When I turn the iron audio on in pro zero it changes to a clang sound. Is this right?

Ok john..... But is there any advantage with iron audio on in pro zero mode with no disc. or is it best to leave iron audio OFF? thanks.....

Yes......it tells you if in fact here are even targets in an area. If an area in a park has been landscaped to the point of the top 10 inches of dirt removed and replaced with black dirt, the targets would be few. Running with the iron audio on shows you if there were a lot of functions in any given area. If the iron targets are plenty at all levels, and no high audio sounds, there is a good chance that the area has been hunted previously by someone else, and you may in fact decide to move on to a more lucrative area. And finally, a real deep weak iron grunt could in fact ens up being a very old coin. As any target gets deeper, the probability of accurate discrimination by all detectors starts to back off, until a slight iron audio signal at 15" could end up being not an iron object, but in fact a very old coin or piece of jewelry. Remember, in an undisturbed area, the deeper a target is, the older it should be. Dig some of those real deep targets and you will sometimes get a good surprise. :)

tried various settings and it depends on what type of area you are working me bouy. here you on the wall closing in issue and looking for this years trip down south. Heard thatt the DR doesn't allow detecting anymore....not going there if that is the case......come on spring. Take care.

I agree whit craw dad. If you go pro mode no discrimination you don't need to turn on iron I'd your going to hear every thing any way

PRO MODE never worked on my AT PRO from day one. So I only use STD MODE 0 DIS 20 SEN 2 NOTCH FROM TOP. This summer's finds are 1 men's ROLEX watch 8500.00 3 PLAT RINGS 14GRAMS 6.5 GRAMS AND A WHOPPING SIZE 12 MEN'S WEDDING BAND 18.3 GRAMS. Plus GOD only knows how many gold rings, earrings, 6 gold chains and over 600 dollars in coins. n Now before you say I'm full of BS all this was posted right here.
I only fresh water lake hunt 20-30 hours a week.(43 years metal detecting). All I need is to hear a beep coming from my detector and I'm in. See my friends when your 0 to 30 ft off the beach 6 or so ft. under water there are NO BOTTLE CAPS, NAILS, PULL TABS. So what's left GOLD.

Haven't had a chance to use my Pro yet but will soon. What is wrong with Pro mode on ur machine, need to get it checked out, mine works perfect in backyard. I mostly hunt saltwater with Excal, going to use AT in freshwater only n the swimming areas is where the gold is. Good luck to u.

There really is no point to having iron audio on full time if you are using no discrimination.....you will hear the iron anyway , and really its just extra noise when using discrimination and it messes with the tones. Most of us aren't really concerned about knowing if there is any iron in the area , we are looking for coins , etc. If that's what you like then more power to ya , use what works for you , but the main purpose for iron audio is that you can turn it on now and then to check iffy targets for iron. I hunt trashy sites and rarely ever use iron audio , when iron is everywhere you cant tell if the target you are interested in is the source of the iron or if the iron is just right next to the target. If in doubt , dig anyway.
