The last post I read this am was Larbears...talking about cold fresh water winter hunting..we share the same addiction, inspired by his results, heres my effort to keep you entertained...
Hit Lake Michigan 35 degree water and air.. found a very nice cut..started hitting clad, green coins, a few wheats, so I stayed right in there and worked it all, the high dry, the slope, the riffle, and out as far as I could wade in the heavy rip and waves...gotta nice silver chain, an earring, (6.2gr) just a ton of coins...the layers of black sand here really screw with a signal, they are not at all solid or good tones, like a rusty bottlecap...even the nickels were pinging high/low...
But I was getting them and getting them deep...10"+ some of them..the high dry was frozen a few inches down and a guy had to chip through it swinging the scoop like an axe...I was done after three hours, but happy with the results.. Swinging an AtPro...hopefully tomorrow will bring me Pro Cold Gold! These big cuts dont stay open for very long..
