PRO and or Gold?

GroundScanner

Active member
Hi , I am new to MDing and i have a ATPro and i was thinging of getting another one for back up. So i am wondering how the ATGold was? The back up is incase i need to send mine in for a fix at any giving time , so i will always have a spare and don't have to wait.

I have both -- no regrets at all. The Gold comes with the 5"x8" coil, which is excellent. I use it on both machines, and take the Gold out more often than not -- the iron and target discrimination is excellent for my trashy hunting grounds.

Kinda depends. Thats a lot of money to spend for a backup detector.

What were you hoping to do with it?

Both the Pro and Gold are great machine. GroundScanner, we do not have to justify why we buy, just remember the one who dies with the most detectors, win!

You said it man

Thanks for the input . I was thinking of the 5x8 coil too and want to have another water machine , that will work . Also i have 3 boys that want to try it out . ( Can't have enuff Detecters ) lol very true !

I am biased, I have an AT Gold. The guys on the Diggers tv show have both machines. I read somewhere they are leaning towards the ATG now.

The All Metal mode has a learning curve. Start in the less trashy areas for sure. Listen for the short, faint blips that have the springy sound, like they are trying to catch up. These are the deep targets that do not give accurate ID, much lower ID number. Once you learn that sound, you can go over a good area and get the deep targets other machines missed. I've dug coins at least 12 inches with the 5x 8 coil.

I can use either for coin/jewelery hunting. The large 9 x 12 concentric coil stays on the Pro for hunting sports fields, beaches and water. The 5 x 8 stays on the AT Gold for relic/coin hunting in the woods and the odd tot lot.

Very fast recovery speed. Binary audio = on / off versus the proportional audio in Pro mode which gives louder tones for surface/large targets and softer tones for deeper targets.
