Pro 6000 XL HELP!!!!!!

Jeff Beecham

New member
I just traded for a (like new / Still has the price tag on it)
Pro XL... I put everything together and the meter is very
low in the number readings... It reads the following with
the stock coil...

Nickel - 24
Zinc - 40
Dime - 44
Quarter 50
Half 62

I can't get the meter to read above 70 - 80 using a large
belt buckle and the meter is starting on Zero and I'm using
pre-set on everything except the threshold and it's a little
below the P mark to get it to a slight hum...

Is there anything that I can do; or does it need to go
back to White's for a checkup??

Thanks, Jeff

Try wiping the analog meter down with some glass cleaner and a Soft
cloth..see if that helps......Doug

First check to make sure that static is not causing your needle to stick. You can check this by placing your finger and moving it over the meter needle to see if it moves. If it does move, use some washing machine static cloths or a static spray remover to get rid of the static. If that does not work, you will probably have to send your metal detector to White's Electronics to have the meter calibrated or replaced. The meter is calibrated by using a nickel on the low end and a silver dollar at the high end. It appears that your metal detector is reading correctly on the low end, but not reading correctly at the top end. Kelley (Texas) :)

I called Whites yesterday afternoon
and Tony (Whites Rep) told me it was
the round watch like spring under the needle..
He said that it was touching something causing
the needle not to go up all the way; it would
not even read correctly on the battery check..
He was right; the end of the spring was touching
something; I curled it back like the rest of the
spring; put everything back together and a quarter
reads a quarter etc..... Could not be more accurate
now.... Thanks for the replys.....
