Prizm IV tell me about them

Guys

I have never owned a Whites. I have owned several detectors. My dad has a Blue and Gray. He needs something a little user friendly. I found a used Prizm IV. It is priced right. Tell me the good and bad of this detector. Thanks for your help

Know of nothing bad, only good. Bought one for my daughter to use and for my backup. Never a problem. Turn on and go. Easy to notch out unwanted items, Has Pinpoint (very useful). I would recommend the Prizm to anyone wanting a easy-to-use machine yet a reliable detector. She found a 1824 Large Cent at 6 inches.

Bought a near new one this winter and have been learning it. Has decent depth, good discrimination, light weight, and handles well. When on a coin, the id is very accurate on mine. Unfortunately, like all target id detectors, items similar to a coin often identify as a coin as well. My point being that it seldom misses on the real thing. Down side - no smaller coil available for trashy areas and as the ground balance is preset, may behave erratically in highly mineralized ground or on saltwater beaches. Also, while it works pretty well, the discrimination is all notched so the user can't tweak it a bit and the headphone plug is in an awkward location. I like the Multiple tone option and the pinpoint/all metal option as well. All in all, while it's not a DFX nor an MXT etc. It seems to be a very capable coin shooter for parks, playgrounds etc. and should do fairly well on the misc. targets around old homesites etc. I have several other higher end detectors but I have to say the little Prizm is a decent performer and fun to use. Hope this is helpful.
