Here is a recently dug Civil War era half found along the Trail of Pines ( Pinellas County, FL) at a watering hole used by wagon trains and military troops during the mid and late 1800

Must have been dropped when it was new...Friend found a seated quarter and I found a mercury dime no key dates in same condition so although they are rare they are out there...
 
Larry,great find.Some how these old coins do give us a connection back in time.There's probably plenty more to be found.
