Printed matter research tips

Here are some resources that I have had luck with in finding places to detect around town.

1. Bicentennial & centennial books. Cities print these and you can usually find them in the libraries. They will have not only lots of info but many pictures of days gone by.
2. High School year books of the past. These also have many pics and can frequently be read in city libraries. If not, then walk into the school library and ask to see them. They probably wont mind at all if you are there. Your taxes keep them running.
3. Historical societies - these places are a wealth of info - most ot these things are not on the internet.
4. Many public libraries have a "special room" or area where the books are just from your area.
5. Any personal diaries from your area are not only great reading but very informative. I find more of them in the historical society, university library or a jr college library. Anyone can walk right in and read them there.
6. Local museums - they not only have the real goods that we look for on display but usually have a book section of the area.
Good luck - Steve in so az
