Price check on Bandido II uMax..

Found one with case and manual, like new, they're asking $375.00. This seems high to me but what do y'all think? Always wanted one of these....

I was keeping an eye on one that just sold for $367 on Ebay, so $375 is about right. I didn't expect it to go past $300 by this much, but the old Tesoros seem to hold their value well. I just bought a brand new Eldorado for about the same price.

I saw that one on fleabay and figured maybe the guy isn't too far off. I'm just not sure I want to spend that when I might be able to pick up a Vaquero or Tejon for the same money. I need to do a little more research on why I'd want the Bandido vs. the more modern counterparts!

There is one on the Classifieds right now for $275, and I saw one sell for $300 with 3 coils not too long ago.
Even if I could get $375 for mine, which is tempting, I would have a really hard time parting with it. You really don't see them go up for sale too often.

My research led me to the conclusion that the older Tesoros, with the lower 10khz frequency, are a little better on silver coins and are a little less noisy than the newer HOT machines. The HOT detectors may have a slight advantage on depth, but from what I've read, there isn't a significant difference.

I wanted an Eldorado or a Bandido II. I chose the Eldorado because it has ED-180 discrimination and a frequency shift switch. Plus, the Bandido II and Eldorado have a switch that allows you to keep the detector in all metal mode. The Vaquero and Cibola only have a button that you have to keep pushed in if you want to stay in all metal mode.

Good stuff! When I looked over the features I didn't notice that all metal mode difference!

I'm gonna let the Bandido pass.. My next detector will be a water machine and although I'd like to get my grubby paws on another Tesoro, I'm gonna pass on all but water machines. When I finally get the money though, my first water machine will likely be a Tesoro! Y'all hold off on selling off those Tigers till I get some play money built up!

The reference in this post to the all metal switch prompts me to mention that several years ago I replaced the red pinpoint button on a Silver Sabre

Let me qualify that....Dang

I liked the V, a few negs nothing serious just personal preferences, a lot. The B2 has an audio response that I am sure can't be beat by any other single tone machine. It took a while to hear it, but once onto it....

Being able to toggle to AM and 2 tuning modes is great.

You can't loose either way.
