Not sure what metal this is (maybe brass) but you can see that a rivet secured a wooden insert. The piece of wood still attached at opposite end is held in with a screw. Thought maybe it had something to do with a flag but the curve of the object doesn't make sense for that. Or am I just ignorant. lol
