Pretty Happy with my CZ3d

I have been pretty happy with my CZ3d. In fact, I liked it so much I tracked down an early 1021 to add to my collection.. Yesterday I hunted farm fields with my LTD and came back to an old picnic grove and reached for the CZ. I hunted an area very close to a new building on the site and the CZ rang out loud and clear on two nice Indiana head pennies. I started gridding the small area and dug some junk but eventually got a nice signal. I cut a plug and scooped down to about 6 inches and didn't see anything. The probe agreed there was something in the hole and eventually I blundered across a super tiny silver ring. It s clearly old with a single initial engraved on the front. It is stamped sterling. This thing is so little that it doesn't go past my fingernail on my little finger. Rooting this tiny target out of this huge area made my feel pretty good about my CZ and its ability to locate targets.

It's a great machine; simple to operate, deep, accurate, and hits hard on some of the older coins that other detectors either miss or misinterpret. I've been using mine in old, hunted out parks and still find a good amount of keepers.

CZ's have been around since 92 and even many of the old 18 year old ones are still around finding the good deep silver...CZ3D the last of the line and only one in production carries on the tradition but for how long I don't know as the new Fisher is concentrating on their new line of F models...

Wouldn't it be great if Fisher would give us CZ guys one more shot? I can see some ergonomic, balance, refinements that would make me want a new CZ. I would like to see a little meter revision. I know they are probably more expensive to make than the F's but they are an impressive part of Fishers line and past. I hunt with both a CZ and an F but there are times I just love the CZ. Let's hope Fisher gives us at least one more CZ update before they pull the plug on this great series.

Hold on to that 3D, they have plans of discontinuing them soon. They are too expensive to make, and calibrate...versus the F series which is just the opposite.
