Spent the morning checking an old baseball complex where all levels of baseball has been played in my local town since 1952. Youth football also has been played here since the 70

WOW! What a great coin for your first silver!!:wiggle:

Congratulations!:detecting:

Congratulations! She is definitely one lovely lady! Nothing like seeing BIG silver down in the hole! :yikes: Believe it or not, the very first silver coin I found when I started detecting back in 1972 was also a Walking Liberty half dollar. Excellent start to a wonderful hobby. And I hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I have. HH Randy

Sweet find Nuggethunter!:yikes: That's what really makes this hobby; finding the unexpected! Also a lesson in rechecking each hole after you've made a recovery.
Mick Evans.

The first large silver I found was also a Lady Liberty. My first was a 1920 and my second was a 1918. The only two that I have found. TomB

Very nice find.

You are lucky in the US coins in the UK don't seem to like being buried even for a short while. (Metal corrosion)

Nice find nuggethunter13. What type of machine did you swing and what kind of coil was you using when you found it ?

Using the 705 with the 10x5 elliptical. Found my first ring this week also at the same location. Sadly I think it is made of cast iron. It is about as ugly as a ring can get. I thought it was a child's ring but the wife says that based on the size it is an actual mans ring. If that is true the dude who owned it must of been desperate for a ring to wear this ugly thing. Worse is the company who originally manufactured it. They must of had a ton of scrap metal and time to waste to even produce the thing. It still was exciting to see a ring while digging. Next time hoping for gold/diamonds accompanied by a treasure map to a box of gold bars. But I will settle for a few quarters and a day of swinging the 705.

I agree, she sure is pretty. I'm still waiting to take one of my own home! It's good to see what they look like though.

I've been detecting a long time and I have never found one of those! Congrats, fantastic find!

That is amazing! My very first silver find years ago was the same exact lady right down to the date and is still my all time favorite coin find. You did well to say the least...

She is gorgeous, congrats on the find. Does she have a sister? If so, where can I meet her?

(Horrible joke for only my second post to this great forum, but I couldn't stop myself...)
