Hello,
Finally got back out today with Fors plus and 10x5 "dd". Ran Fors plus with a very smooth all metal and found 14 pcs for 2dwt.
Good luck

I am still waiting for the snows to finish melting, which is slowly happening now with some much warmer weather, rains and warm winds we are getting here. I hope to be into gold nugget locations near me by the end of March to early April, if spring weather continues.

Looking at the photos you post I know I will be envious come July and August when it gets hot because I see trees casting shade where you are hunting, and there are no tress, or shade, in most of the places I will search.

Were you only searching in the Threshold-based All Metal mode, or one of the two Discriminate modes?

Monte,
In the summer here the trees dont offer much temperature refuge. It gets very hot here. Somtimes over 115 degrees. During that time we pretty much have to go at 5 am till 10 or so. Then its too hot. Seems like you can never carry enough water either. During summer we usually go to places that are no more then 5 minutes walk to truck, in case we start feeling heat strokish. Alot of the places we go the land owners dont let us go there at all. Because of fire danger. I guess they figure we might hit a rock with a pick and start a fire. So I usually figure hardcore gold detecting season is from late October till june. Unfortunately this winter it has been raining most weekends. I hope to get out both days this weekend with Fors plus and maybe gold racer too. We have a brand new spot that we found the gold I posted, to get started on. Its quite large. I hope it will produce several ounces. The ground is semi mellow so I will probably try the concentric coil also.
Good luck
