Hey there folks , I was wondering if anyone is using predator tools shovels ? Has anyone use the Piranha shovel or the Raven shovel. ? I can't make up my mind which one I want. I would like to know how they hold up ? Is the foot pegs worth getting for better digging ? Thanks ahead of time for any info. GS
They are all good IMHO. I use the Raven and I like it a lot but my wife uses the the Little Eagle and I like it too, lighter weight and cuts a real nice hole.
Hi Larry , could you give me the measurements on the Raven. Overall length, blade length and how wide . Thanks GS

Dimensions should be here on most of the units, mine are in storage for the winter but I think the Raven is about 40". http://www.predatortools.com/collections/all
I don't think the foot pegs are worth the extra expense IMHO.
I have the Ultra Eagle...Man ..I love it not to big and not to little....can use to help get up....just the right size....digs a cleaner hole than the Lesche!!!

The LIttle Eagle. Tough, digs good and light weight. HH jim tn[/quote]
Guys you are great, I like that you all use a different predator shovel and like them. So which ever one I get , I am sure I will like it. I see the video on the site that shows the 2 that I asked about. But the ones you all are using looks great. Thanks again guys. GS
I have a Sampson Lesche which is equivalent to the Little Eagle model. It works very well and is light but I find the handle somewhat short for me. If you are more than say 5' 10" you will have to do a lot of bending over with that one especially if you can't recover the target with one full length plug. I recently bought a Barracuda model and the length of the handle makes more sense to me. The blade is also slightly wider and longer which is what I was looking for. It is heavier though.
I have the raven, excellent in the woods, and you wouldnt beleve the roots i have hacked out with it but it has no place in a park though! Nothing bothers me more than seeing a foot shovel of any format in a public park or manicured lawn!(it's not about how it digs plugs it's about people seeing someone in a park with a shovel ) And I'm not shy about telling people I see doing it in person!
I fell the same way. I have seen a few with shovels and spoke to a few. They look at me like there dumb founded. And I explained what could happen. Maybe it sunk in. Maybe not. I have a model 31 Raptor for the parks. I ordered the Raven today for woods. Should be in by the end of the week. GS

You will like your new shovel! I have the Piranha w/pegs & only regret is I didn't buy it sooner. Well worth the $. (although some things are better off not said when it comes to the wife!). Extra length helps tall people. Here is pic of 16-18" of hard pack clay going after hotchkiss shell frag.
