Prayer request please!

There are a lot of new faces on here recently...welcome all!! I've been around about 3 years and read the posts on a daily basis to try and keep up with the prayer requests. I'm not very active recently since I have been very busy at a new job and trying to keep my head above water, so haven't done any serious digging lately.

I have a son who has a bone disorder that causes frequent fractures. Also, tumors have displaced the bone in his cheekbones, jaw and chin and require surgery, about once a year, to reduce the size of the tumors when they disfigure his face.

We met our new surgeon yesterday to schedule surgery and he wants to do 3 surgeries. The first to reduce the tumor in his cheekbones, the second in his lower right jaw and the third, tumor is pushing the pallet down inside his mouth. Hopefully, the first surgery will relieve the pressure and allow the tumor in the pallet to recede back up and eliminate the third surgery. We are waiting on insurance to approve it before we can schedule the first surgery.

We also are trying to get a new drug approved with our insurance that has been shown to increase bone density and reduce pain. He is only in pain when he fractures but hopefully it will strengthen the bones and reduce fractures.

On the way home in the car Brian said he hoped he would die during surgery so that he could go home and be whole. He said he would look for his uncle Terry who passed away a couple of years ago and would stay with him until we got there. It's hard to drive with tears in your eyes.

Here is a picture of Brian in the doctors office yesterday.

He didn't want his picture taken and tried to hide behind his book.

For the most part Brian is a happy go lucky 11 year old and he doesn't let this get him down much. He makes good grades at school and loves to pick on his older sister!! He loves the Lord and knows he will one day be whole. He just wants to run and play like a normal kid. "Dad, can you play football in Heaven?"

I'm sorry this is so long but I wanted to share some of our story with our new friends here and to beg your prayers for healing for my son.

Thank you so much!!

I know it's hard for an 11 year old to understand, but his reward in heaven will be so great that the pain here will melt away! My heart goes out to all of you!

after almost having died myself in early September and sitting here now I think of Brian's comment about wanting to go home. I was ready to go home to God then. Being here tells me He has a purpose for me to fulfill before I come home to Him.

I know things are very hard on all of you, especially Brian, and we know for whatever reason God has a purpose for all of this. I know you guys sure have touched my heart and I know you have touched others as well. Though we do not know the mind of God we do know He loves us and will meet our needs. Brian has shown his strength of faith in the face of pain and agony and he still is strong in the Lord. What a fantastic example for us all.

Will continue to keep you all in my prayers. One day we will know why God does what He does when we can ask Him face to face. Maybe at that time it may not even matter why certain things happened to us 'in this world' that we are just temporary visitors of because we will be home and there will be no more tears, nor more sorrows - only true love.

Praying for him and you all! :)

What a cute kid! My prayers are with you and your family Doug. Stay strong and keep the Lord at your side.

I have a friend from a past church that has a disease that affects his motor skills but has a determination like you would not believe. I sometimes envy him because he has a perminant peace about him that I just can't seem to always find. One day after coming home from Promise Keepers, we decided to stop off at a place called Whole Foods to get a couple of burito's. We were in line talking about the Lord, when a nicely dressed, clean cut, guy walked in front of us and started to order. Jeff was patient; I became hotter then the burito. He was told to wait his turn but still insisted on being waited on, not to mention the bad lanquage. Just as I was about to put a "God loves you" track in his mouth, Jeff turned to him and started sharing some spirit filled thoughts with the guy. Turns out that someone he knew was not doing well and he humbly apologized for his rudeness. I saw a poor situation go good in a matter of minutes and at that exact moment, perhaps because of all that he endures day by day, Jeff was an example of the patience and love that God has for all of us. I believe God was happy with Jeff that day, because as I carried the burito's to the counter, I noticed his was considerably heavier. (it must have been a 5 pounder!)

I'm ashamed to say that I sometimes forget to pray for precious kids like Brian. I'll try to do better in the future!

ps. hows that other stuff working that you had been trying...I cant remember exactly what it was now...some kind of vitamin supplement or something????

and please let him know we love him and I know that God will use him for His glory and for saving souls, so hang on Brian and allow Jesus to work in your life the way He has planned for you to do! Some receive their healings and others don't....but whatever God's plans are we need to accept them and give Him praise in all things!

Jesus loves you and your family, Brian, and He won't leave nor forsake you....so keep the faith and keep continuing on in your mortal life for Him in whatever length of time He gives you to live for Him! My prayers are for you and your family to be comforted and strengthened in the joy our Savior, Jesus gives to His own! He knows our every need!!

God Bless you all!!

Betty

Digdoug you don't have to beg for prayers here we all here are behind you and your family 100 and 10% my friend I'll pray for Brian right now!!

You are all in my prayers . And I sure hope everything gets better.

I always get down when surgery is coming up but really felt good today! Since I missed work Monday to go to Nashville I worked my day off today to make up for lost time, and at the same time, it was good therapy... kept my mind busy.

We really appreciate your prayers...it has been a real blessing to us over the years and I wish I could express how much it means to all of us!!!

...Thanks man!!! The juice Brian is taking has given him a lot more energy but so far it hasn't slowed down the tumor growth or increased bone density. But, the new super drug that we hope to give Brian takes about a year to show improvement so the juice may be helping and he just hasn't been on it long enough for it to take effect.

Thanks again for your prayers!!

I had forgotten it was juice. I dont know why, but the only thing that kept coming to my mind was this honey product that I saw a few years back called bee balm...It was supposed to hold great healing powers. I hope that the drug helps, but I'll keep praying for a healing touch!!!

J.
