Brian's next surgery is Oct. 2nd at 7:00 am and is very serious. When I'm not so tired I will post further details but there is a slight risk he won't survive this one. They told us that two surgeries ago but the doctor really stressed that possibility with this surgery.

I know I don't have to ask for prayers...I just wanted to inform you of the date.

Thanks so much for being there for us...

Did the pager # change?

...the first number didn't reach Nashville. This toll free number will.

I'll try to post more info on the surgery tonight if possible.

Thanks,

put it in my cell phone. Do I delete the old one?

Yes...it isn't assigned to Brian's pager.

...they are going to remove the bone at the back of his pallet to be able to reduct the tumor growing close to his spine. The problem is two arteries are in the area being operated on and the fear is the tumor may have moved them out of their normal position and the surgeon could accidentally cut one. If that happens Brian could bleed to death. We will have enough blood on hand for a transfusion if needed. Our surgeon is one of the best in the country and is very conservative and very careful. We feel confident all will be well but prefer to err on the side of caution.

There is a 2 in 5 chance the pallet won't heal and leave an opening in the roof of his mouth that will make speaking and eating very difficult. Brian will be on a soft or liquid diet for at least 2 weeks and maybe longer if it doesn't heal correctly. If it doesn't heal another surgery will be required to close the opening.

The tumors are growing extremely fast. The bridge of his nose is flattening due to growth of tumor on both sides. The tumors in his jaw and cheekbones are in need of additional surgery already.

It has been a long, hard year and 2008 doesn't look any better.

Believe me when I say how much I love and appreciate all of you. This forum has been an awesome place for me to share what we have been going through and your prayers and support have truly made this easier to face. It is very comforting knowing you're there for Brian and for us.

God bless,
