Just got my power back! :) Lost it at 1am and it was getting chilly in here! 54 degrees indide when the power kicked in! That is good, cause it is supposed to get down to 13 tonight! BRRRR!!! I will catch up on posts tonight after I get home from the club meeting!

things like that can be a bit nerve racking not knowing when it will be back on....did ya have candles to help heat the house with Mike?

Used candles for light, and extra clothes for warmth!

Had a real nice wood stove, but took it out two years ago and built me daughter a bedroom!

We got it 2 years ago! We have a table top propane BBQ grill. We heated with it for a couple of days with the temp dropping in the house. This Old House had enough air leaks that we didn't have to worry about carbon monoxide build up. My son-in-law put in a wall space heater and we have natural gas. That baby really puts out the heat when needed. Wouldn't heat the whole house but would get us by until power was restored. There's a lot of homes without power right now and the temp dropping can't be good. We've only had rain and about four snow flakes.
May GFod bless you and yours,
Paul(NWO)

the fumes from the candles would kill the birds. We have extra blankets to cover them up with to help keep them warm. Have to keep in mind birds have their own feather coats (like down) and they puff themselves up like a down vest to keep their heat in. That is how outside birds like sparrows, blue jays, etc., keep warm outside through the winter. Us poor people though aren't as lucky. I don't even have hair on my head to keep my head warm let alone protective covering like those birds.

One day we will get a back up generator but since they are not cheep and to have an electrician install the circutry to protect the generator when the poser comes back on - well guess we need more blankets. Don't even have a gas stove. Electric goes out - everything is out.

We just pray we do not have to experience a power failure but if we do we are praying it is for a very short period of time.
