I am so tickeled that I figured out that a faulty battery pack was giving my unit fits.I mean to tell you this thing runs flawlessly.I knew I wasn't having any trouble when I first got the unit but never hunted long enough till march then about two hours a day.I found out this battery pack is good for about 2 to 3 hrs.then something terrible goes wrong.
I went out today and not for as long as I would have liked because the girlfriends kids got cold and we hunted a spot for about 45 minutes then drove to another spot they ate I hunted found some neat relics,I hunted about an hour then went to my old High School (I ate on the drive to there)managing my detecting time..lol..anyways we got there and in just a few swings UT! OH! WHAT DO YOU THINK I WAS HEARING.I knew what it was and I called it befor I dug it.I called a silver dime didn't know what one though, not that good yet...lol..There it was a 1941 Merc. 1 1/2" deep in a trashy area that I had gone over befor with this unit and couldn't get it to run smooth to save face.
Well well in about an hour it starts its little acting up skit so I went over to areas I just hunted and laid my Merc down where I found it and guess what.I couldn't pick it up.I swapped battery packs and guess what I could nail that Merc like no buddies business.
Here is the good part I had foil on top of the ground over the Merc a rusted nut 1/2" four O'clock in relation to the Merc and about 3" one O'clock to the Merc a finger size rusted bleacher bolt. The Target ID Locked on the Merc and sounded off sweet sweet.I only got in aboout three 1/2 hrs of my Big Silver trip today but it was cold and I have alot more confidence when I go back.
I posted the Pics in the other Minelab Forum. Thanks to all that has been helping me talking me thru it,and remember two things that I have learned that is written in stone.Carry Extra Battery Packs and remember the Computer Processor reset trick with the Battery.Man it is like I have a new machine or something.I am excited once again.Batteries who would had THUNK IT !

It sure is nice when a plan comes together. Ronin you said that right a lot of people overlook the power source. Did you get the normal silver dime hit with that trash nearby or was it a little off and jumping around?

it did a little bouncing but it would lock in on it,something I have been having trouble with.I mean it is like I have a different machine.Something so simple has given mw so many fits.

Rick, Aren't you glad that you did not give up!! Keep up the good hunting and gooood luck.
