Practicing with the 705 in the park, I'm catching on, 43 coins!

Today I again made some adjustments, I increased my audio to max. Even at that loud setting it is quieter than my previous detector.

No great finds, but lots of finds

6 Quarters
9 Dimes
7 nickels
21 pennies

Based on the finds, I have to at least be close on my settings. I found a bottle cap at 5" which was reassuring, most of the coins that I found were shallow. Still haven't zeroed in on the target spot on the coil. I found myself not needing my pinpointer with my other detector, but I do with this one, at least till I figure out where the sweet spot is.

That is a good hunt for anyone. There is no better way to learn what your 705 will do than working an area with a lot of clad. I hope you tried the pinpoint sizing feature of your 705. I followed Randy's (Digger) direction for using this feature and it is a great help on coins. HH TomB

When I still owned my old X-terra 70, I use the prospecting mode much as you would pin-point sizing on the new X-terra 705. It worked great! Anytime I had a question of a given target, the prospecting mode saved me a lot of needless digging. Unfortunately my new x-terra 505 doesn't have either feature and I therefore my rely totally on the pin-point mode. I have found the sweet spot though and it's dead center in the middle of the 9" 7.5kHz coil. I do use a Garrett Pro Pin Pointer and find it to be an excellent addition to finding the good stuff.

Depends on soil conditions "soil mineralization"......Frequency.... aka what are you hunting for? -coins-gold nuggets-relics- and do you need it to be water proof or just resistant...

Go to this page and look at each coil and it should either clear it up for you or just make it worse lol

Hope this helps a little.....

You had a good day. Just keep a swinging and in no time at all you will know that detector like the back of your hand.
