Power Supply blew up on my main computer. REbuilding

that sometime today or tomorrow. Can get in with the laptop here but don't like typing with the small keyboard. Usually hit 3 keys at once. Second power Supply I've replaced in 4 years so went to a larger one this time. Might have to much running here for 300 watts so went to a 500 watt one. Easy fix, just need it to get here. Geo
 
do you think it was overheating or maybe just a poor unit? Have heard of some folks with the same problem with power supply units for other applications, some last forever some fail.

A power unit is comparatively inexpensive and much easier to replace.
