Power lines?

John (Ma)

New member
I went to an impressive cellar hole site today that are under and beside the power lines. I could not get the MXT to calm down enough to hunt. It went nuts no matter what I did as I thought something was wrong with it. Took it home and around the yard and it worked fine. Any ideas? Or am I out of luck with the MXT?

Some coils are a lot more prone to electrical interference than others. Usually, the bigger the coil the more prone it is to EMI problems. I would assume the 5.3 or the 4x6 would be some of the best choices of coils to use in that area. What coil did you use?

Also, Relic mode has 2 different preset SAT speeds that you can try that will calm down the chatter. Depending on what model you have, MXT or MXT PRO, you access these 2 modes differently.

On the MXT, in Relic mode, the trigger position(center or forward) switches between the 2 modes.(fast/slow SAT speed)

On the MXT PRO, in Relic mode, the Tone ID ON/OFF switches between the 2 modes.(fast/slow SAT speed)

Aarong, thanks for your reply. I have the MXT and not the pro. I did try the trigger and was using the 6x10, so I will have to try the 5.3 that I have and see what happens. Thanks again

Aaron said it all.

I went back to the site today and was able to use both modes with the 5.3 coil. Unfortunatly nothing but junk to show for it, but a good learning experience. Thanks for the tip!

Aarong81 definitely gave you the scoop... The only other thing I can think of would be to run a little lower sensitivity.
