Hi,

Just purchased an MXT ALL PRO & have been having issues detecting near power lines? Any suggestions to cut down the chatter ?

Thanks,
John

All you need to do is turn your sensitivity down.

What I did in areas below power lines was,
switched to relic mode 2-tone iD,
threshold all way dawn,
sensitivity way down to a level of tolerability.

When I heard the chatter I put a coin on the ground and
then swept the coil over it.
The sound for the decected coin was loud and clear.
And with that knowledge the whole area was hunted.
No big finds were made, but better than nothing at all.

@Nancy - Thank you for referring to the photo...:detecting:

Vito, Your photo was the first thought when I thought of the EMI. I love your photo and I hope you didn't mind me posting it here.

Hello johnva,

Here is a few. Smaller search coils pickup less EMI than larger ones. Concentric coils pickup less EMI than DD's. You get less EMI directly under the powerline, worst at a 30 to 45 degree angle away from the powerline. EMI may be more controllable in All Metal mode, as opposed to Discrimination mode.

Those are all suggestions written by Dave Johnson, the Design Engineer of the MXT.

That is some good stuff to read for sure, MI-AuAg.
