Power issues

Hi, my friend's having problems with his etrac, it says voltage too high, then the next day it was ok, then next day another voltage issue. Any advice for him please? Thanks water wizard

I've had mine say "overvoltage" and shut down from time to time. It does make you panic, but it has always come out of it and worked.

Just curious......is the RNB battery used in those Tracs that give the "overvoltage" message?

does the RNB battery put out the same voltage as the AA battery pack. I was checking on replacing my Etrac battery with that RNB battery.
but not sure because the stock battery is 9.6 volts. I was thinking about the same issue of overvoltage. The price is close to the same.
I will watch this thread for more info.
thanks Renegade Bob

Good day all...
Bought these Ni-MH Rechargeble battery for USD45.(charger + 8 fujitsu battery) 2000mAh 1.2V. After 12hrs MD, remain 3 bars in my etrac.
No power surge to my etrac. measured out voltage from Slim Pack capsule shows 11.5V.
BTW, this Fujitsu charger can be use as power-bank to charge you smartphone as well..

Thank you very much for the information, I will pass it on. He finds so much brilliant stuff with his etrac, they are a great machine :)

How long is the original rechargeable battery supposed to last with a full charge?? I'm talking hooked up to the charger for 24 hours or longer. Do these batteries need to be fully discharged before recharging??
On mine..the battery indicator is on the last bar after 5 hours.

on page 84 and 85 of the user manual, it says the 1600 mah battery (the original "stock" battery) should power an etrac for 14 hours. (backlight off, headphones in use) also says batteries DO NOT need to be fully discharged before recharging.

i think its kind of odd where it says output voltage is regulated, no matter what the voltage level is of the battery pack, but in the very last paragraph, it says when voltage is depleted based on the battery icon, recharge your batteries to avoid missing any targets. are they saying if your batteries are dead you wont find anything? Aussie humor?

My "overvoltage" is with the original rechargable battery. It is all I've ever used. I haven't tried the R&B yet, for my hunting the original lasts a long time. I usually just plug it in when I get done and its ready to go. Lasts plenty long enough for my right now.

I've had the over voltage text and then shutdown a couple times out of nowhere. I strictly use NimH batteries which should no way cause an over voltage as the eTRAC is also rated for higher voltage alkaline batteries. Powering back on always fixed it.

I've also had my eTRAC shut down for no apparent reason a few times. A quick slap to the side of the case always fixed it.
Never took the thing apart to look at its guts, but i got a hunch there's some intermittent flaky connectors or chip sockets involved.
Unless these things happen frequently to the point its a serious nuisance, i consider them non-problems same as the occasional Windows BSOD and/or other unexplainable Windows issues.

i know this doesnt help the OP but I actually have never had the overvoltage. ive had other weird intermittent things happen occasionally but never seen the overvoltage. i just have the stock battery. i do like nebtrac does, ive never been able to outlast the battery in a day.

Had a few shutdowns as Ironsight described, but it was just a very minor nuisance. A gentle slap got things back to normal.
It only happened 3 or 4 times in a couple seasons and I think it may have been a battery connection. Taking the battery out and reinstalling it may be helpful too.
