Power balancing question

I tried power balancing with a Vaquero yesterday, following these instructions.

a.. Locate a metal-free clean spot of ground to adjust the GB. You might pick some of the more mineralized ground in the area you're searching (and if you have an All Metal mode you can help locate such a spot.

b.. Select the Discriminate mode.

c.. Set the Discriminate level at the minimum setting (or where you might just reject iron nails on the ground).

d.. Use the highest Sensitivity level w/o noise or chatter.

e.. Start with the search coil held about 6' above the ground, and no higher than 8".

f.. Briskly, ob the search coil toward-and-away from the ground going from 6" down to about

Thanks for sharing your opinion on that Reveir. I was wondering what the point of it was and also the only real sure to tell if it is doing anything for you is to try it on an actual target that hasn't been dug yet.
Supertuning works but I wouldn't use it in a trashy area as I believe it actually masks targets more since it actually enhances all your signals, not just the ones your hoping to find.

Comparing signals through a variety of settings is really the only way to know whats gonna work for your area and for your particular detector. Its time consuming but its accurate and you carry that with you.
Your doing yourself an injustice if you follow someone elses way and don't in fact test it for yourself.

Supertuning affects silver finds IF it is turned too positive-usually indicated by an increase in tone on the downstroke. To check another way AFTER power balancing, turn the disc. up all the way and hold a half or silver dollar coin and see if it is detected.

Never owed a tesoro but here are a few links from past post that monte has done. Hope this helps some.

ground balance in all metal as normal then
with the disc level set as low as it goes out of all metal and with the sensitivity set as high as possible, you bob the coil up and down and reduce ground balance adjustment very slowly as your bobbing the coil ,at some point as you reduce the gb setting(toward the negative)you will get a "beep" as you lift the coil from the ground then "stop" adjusting gb
then start to bob the coil again and very slowly increase gb setting(to the positive) just to the point where you eliminate the beep on the uplift.

you are now power balanced and will have the best depth of detection and response in discriminate mode possible......

I know that super tuning doesn't work well in trashy areas but how well will a power balanced Vaquero work in the same trashy area?
